It is similar on Windows and Linux but different on OSX. I would like to
say that it is probably not related to PDF because the print preview shows
the same issue.

Direct cursor was enabled

Look in Tools > Options > LibreOffice Writer > Formatting Aids.
Is the 'Direct cursor' feature enabled?

Hi,
LO 6.0.6.2 on Mac OS X.13.6
In Writer, wherever the cursor is clicked , cases carriage returns, and spaces
to be inserted down to that point.
This happens even on a completely new totally blank document, click the cursor
in the middle of the page, and carriage returns and space characters
