Thanks to everyone who responded to me about Quickstarter preventing me from loading the latest version of LibreOffice. All the suggestions presumed that I had an earlier version of LibreOffice installed, which I did not. My fault for not being more specific in my request for help. I tried all the suggestions, but none of them worked.
I took the path of least resistance and downloaded an earlier version of the program. All is OK now. Thanks again.
