Hi,
Thanks for the replies. Ive located my problem. As i said i'm new to ubnuntu
and i hadn't realised that the main menu is "migrated" from the LO window to
the main ubuntu header bar at the top of the screen. I did spend some time
installing updates and things so i dont know if that was also part of the
solution. As i said ive got quite a bit to learn over the next few weeks
especially and will have to get used to new ways of doing things.
G.

 Hi,

it looks like you are not on your own. I found
 a link

 http://askubuntu.com/questions/219491/why-no-menu-bar-in-libreoffice

There is a suggestion that you
get updates. I have seen this shown as a
solution elsewhere if you feel confident.

ive just found when i wanted to change properties that it
doesnt have the main menu across the top of the window and i
cant seem to find it anywhere. This is the first time ive
used linux, i had to install it as my windows 7 installation
seems to have broken, so ive got quite a learning curve
 ahead. Can anyone help?
