Interesting point, Steve. If I open the doc and then save as doc-a.odt, the size jumps up by 0.3 MiB to 8.4. If I then keep doc-a.odt still open and save as doc-b.odt, the size doesn't move and remains at the original 8.1. But if I then close doc-b.odt, re-open it and save as doc-c.odt, the size jumps again by 0.3 MiB to 8.4.
That seems repeatable. The first 'save as' after opening the file causes the size to increase. Subsequent 'saves as' with the original kept open doesn't cause a size increase. Curiously, opening the increased size file, (doc-a.odt which is at 8.4 MiB), and 'saving as' doc-a2.odt doesn't cause any further size increase. Doc-a2 stays at 8.4 MiB. Strange behavior but unconnected with my original 'problem' which was entirely down to my having forgotten that originally the images were all linked in rather than embedded. Hi Philip. What happens if you "Save As" to create a new document. Is that also 8.1MB. For some reason this is sounding familiar from some years ago.
