I just reworked an old document written in Writer five years' ago. My intention was to replace all the images with new ones. There are 69 png images in the doc and all are black and white line drawings saved, at the time, in RGBA format with transparency. The replacement images are pngs saved

Interesting point, Steve. If I open the doc and then save as doc-a.odt, the size jumps up by 0.3 MiB to 8.4. If I then keep doc-a.odt still open and save as doc-b.odt, the size doesn't move and remains at the original 8.1. But if I then close doc-b.odt, re-open it and save as doc-c.odt, the si
