Yes, it looks like you got a box with old software. You can download up to date
versions from http://ubuntu.com/ where the many different flavors of Ubuntu
are also listed.
You'll almost never get the latest, latest LO versions from Ubuntu. The LO
website lists current download as 7.6.0 for cutting edge stuff and 7.5.5 for
more stable business deployments.
I have LO 7.5 on my Windows10 box but for my day to day use of Writer and Calc
I don't notice any functional advantages in 7.5 over the 7.3.7.2 which is
supported by Ubuntu in their LTS 22.04 os and which is my main every day work
station.
But as a general principle, it's never good to fall too far behind with old
versions.

P.S. I once had a similar problem on Linux Mint, but that went away, the
current issue happened after my switch to Ubuntu.
